About us

EcoSquare is Eco². We analyze ecological and economic aspects. EcoSquare supports your organization to access its sustainability potential by quantifying environmental and economic aspects of your products or your entire organization.
EcoSquare was founded in 2020 and transformed into a limited (GmbH) in 2021.

We support you by quantifying the impacts of your products to support the development of more sustainable products, identify competitive advantages over other products, support environmental certification or even analyze your entire product portfolio regarding its environmental and economic performance.

In addition to our in-house competence, we have a vast international network of experts in different fields that contribute to the success of our projects.

To facilitate successful intercontinental trade, particularly between South(ern) Africa and Europe, EcoSquare Consulting SA (Pty) Ltd. was founded in South Africa, to support businesses in navigating the increasing sustainability regulations by the European Union and ensuring compliance with legal and sustainability requirements with confidence.

Team

EcoSquare was founded by Dr.-Ing. Dipl. oec. Hannes Krieg. Hannes has more than 15 years of experience as a project manager and sustainability expert. He is a certified LCA professional by the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment and holds a doctorate in environmental engineering as well as a Diploma (eq. to Masters) in business.

Hannes has been carrying out Carbon Footprints, Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Costing studies in a range of industries, such as aviation, construction, renewable materials, energy, logistics, packaging, and recycling. He has authored and co-authored more than 60 publications and presentations in the field of sustainability.

Manuel Lorenz, M.Sc., joined EcoSquare Consulting in 2022 as Sustainability Consultant and Head of Climate Action. Holding a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. His core expertise lies in circular economy, renewable energy and resources, and sustainable agriculture.

Manuel has been working in sustainability assessments since 2016, carrying out LCAs, Carbon and Water Footprints across various sectors, including energy, construction, packaging, industrial manufacturing and production systems within varying farming systems.
